The Low Profile BGAN terminal from offers police forces and other government agencies around the world a highly discreet satellite communications terminal.

This rapidly deployable BGAN antenna is designed for unmanned concealed operation that lays flat on the ground, and can be covered with surrounding materials including dirt. And since it's a BGAN terminal, it can connect globally with any of the three Inmarsat BGAN satellites under one service plan. It can maintain a high-speed data rate for applications including the streaming of real-time video, audio and data to a variety of end users throughout the world.

The Low Profile antenna can be buried under a thin layer of dirt or surrounding material as long as that material does not have metal in it. While the terminal is flat, the arrow should be pointed toward the BGAN satellite. There is 30 to 60 degree view angle of this antenna, and it may be tilted up for higher elevations.

The terminal is compatible with any IP capable surveillance equipment, and can lay dormant until awoken by a network command from the command center via SMS or UT, or triggered into action by an event in the field. The multi-phased array antenna negates the need for complex pointing and meets government-level environmental and ingress protection.

Power use and connectivity capabilities are key features of this terminal such as having the ability to lay virtually dormant (drawing very little power) until network activity wakes up the network connection. “When you add to this the ability to be buried or camouflaged to avoid detection, the Low Profile BGAN is expected to become the staple satcom backbone of future discreet operations, ” continued Peter Dingley.
